George Protopapas Executive Director of KEDISA speaker in International Conference in Athens

George Protopapas International Relations Expert and Executive Director of KEDISA participated as speaker in the International Conference: “Contemporary geopolitical readings upon the wider Middle East: Security, economy, politics, culture” organized by the Department of Turkish and Modern Asian Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).  The Conference took place on 25 – 26 May 2017 in EPLO and gave the floor to 35 speakers (professors, researchers, international relations experts) including speakers from France, Israel and Turkey.

Mr. Protopapas gave a speech with the title “Greek-Turkish relations through the lenses of Media and Social Media”. He compared and analyzed the mentions of Greek Press for Imia crisis (January 1996) and trends of digital and social media for Imia incident (January 2017). Furthermore, he analyzed digital and social media trends for Tayyip Erdogan statements for the Treaty of Lausanne. Protopapas concluded that Greek press and digital and social media take a more aggressive attitude towards Turkey in comparison to Imia Crisis in 1996.
